Apply to this role

Firm Topology

A manufacturing-automation and robotics company standing up pilot lines for industrial and emerging humanoid customers.

The Team

A deployment team of controls and automation engineers. You report to the Deployment Lead and work on-site at customer facilities.

The challenge

A new workcell ships to a customer floor and the acceptance test is the gate to go-live. The robots, the PLC, and the EtherCAT motion all have to come up together, the safety I/O has to be proven, and the cell has to hit cycle time and repeatability on the customer's parts, not on the parts it was tuned with in the shop.

Role overview

You bring up robotic workcells and pilot lines on the customer floor and make them run. The work is PLC and EtherCAT motion integration, safety I/O wiring and validation, and the on-site commissioning that gets a cell from crated hardware to a passing acceptance test. When the cell misses cycle time on the line, you are the one debugging it in front of the customer until it holds.

Specializations

Technical requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years deploying or commissioning industrial robotic workcells
  • Hands-on with FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or Yaskawa robots and Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs
  • Experience with EtherCAT or TwinCAT motion and servo drive setup
  • Working knowledge of safety I/O, safety PLCs, and ANSI/RIA R15.06 or ISO 10218
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites for cell bring-up and acceptance

Key responsibilities

  • Commission robotic workcells and pilot lines on-site, from crated hardware to acceptance
  • Integrate PLC and EtherCAT motion control with servo drives and the robot controller
  • Wire and validate safety I/O and safety PLC functions to the cell's safety design
  • Validate cycle time and repeatability against the customer acceptance criteria
  • Bring up HMI screens and tune motion sequences during cell startup
  • Run the acceptance test that gates go-live and resolve punch-list items with the customer

Compensation & Benefits
