Firm Topology

A defense-technology startup building electronic-warfare and RF-sensing systems for counter-UAS and contested-spectrum missions, funded on SBIR and OTA contracts.

The Team

A lean RF and signal-processing team. You report to the VP of Engineering and work on-site.

The challenge

A small drone shows up in a crowded spectrum and the system has a fraction of a second to detect it, classify the emitter against the threat library, and hand off a counter. The receive chain has to hold sensitivity across a wide instantaneous bandwidth while everything else in the band is talking. On an SBIR timeline, the hardware has to be in the field for the next demo, not the next fiscal year.

Role overview

Senior RF and electronic-warfare engineering at a startup pace. You design the RF receive chain and digital RF front-end for signal detection, direction-finding, and emitter classification, and you work the detect, classify, counter chain end to end for counter-UAS in contested spectrum. This is electronic support and electronic attack done on SBIR and OTA money, where you own the receiver from LNA to the threat library and you are in the lab and the field, not behind a process.

Specializations

RF receive chaindirection findingcounter UAS

Technical requirements

  • BSEE or MSEE with an RF/microwave or signal-processing focus
  • 7+ years in RF systems engineering, with electronic warfare or RF-sensing experience
  • Experience designing receive chains, LNAs, and digital RF front-ends
  • Working knowledge of direction-finding, signal detection, and emitter classification
  • Familiarity with DRFM, instantaneous bandwidth, and threat-library design
  • Active Secret clearance

Key responsibilities

  • Design RF receive chains and digital RF front-ends for signal detection and direction-finding
  • Build emitter classification and threat-library logic across the detect, classify, counter chain
  • Characterize instantaneous bandwidth, sensitivity, and dynamic range of the receiver
  • Develop electronic support (ES) and electronic attack (EA) techniques for counter-UAS in contested spectrum
  • Take systems from lab bench to field demonstrations on SBIR and OTA deliverables
  • Ensure designs meet MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC and MIL-STD-464 requirements

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $195,000 - $230,000
  • Stock options (Series A company); the equity is real upside on top of base, not a token grant
  • Annual bonus target 10%
  • On-site lab and field work
  • Relocation support to the Austin area
