Senior Ground Systems Software Engineer

The ground system needs to scale from managing 60 satellites to 200+ within two years. The current telemetry processing architecture bottlenecks at 100 concurrent spacecraft.

Ground systems software controlling and monitoring satellites in orbit. Telemetry processing pipelines, command generation systems, and automation tools that enable a small operations team to manage a growing constellation without linear headcount growth.

Specializations

Technical requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years in ground systems software development for satellite operations
• Experience with CCSDS protocols for space-ground communication
• Proficiency in Python and Java/C++ for real-time systems development
• Understanding of spacecraft operations including orbit determination, attitude control, and power management

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement telemetry processing pipelines for satellite constellation operations
• Develop command and control software for spacecraft operations including maneuver planning
• Build automation systems that reduce operator workload for routine satellite housekeeping tasks
• Design data architectures that scale from 60 to 200+ simultaneously managed spacecraft
• Implement real-time anomaly detection for spacecraft health monitoring across the constellation
• Support mission operations during critical events (launches, maneuvers, anomaly resolution)

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $160,000 - $185,000
• Annual bonus 10%
• Flexible schedule (on-call rotation for mission support)
