A GN&C group of flight-software and algorithm engineers. You report to the GN&C Lead.
A reusable stage has to fly up, come back, and land on its engines, and the GN&C has to close the loop on all of it. Ascent guidance is the well-understood part. The hard part is the descent and propulsive-landing GN&C, where the vehicle is lighter, the aerodynamics are unfriendly, and the state estimator has to stay honest through the burn. The 6-DOF Monte Carlo has to show it works across dispersions, and then the flight data has to agree.
GN&C as the real flight-software discipline it is, not a generic controls role. You write ascent guidance, attitude control, and state-estimation algorithms for a launch vehicle, including the propulsive-landing and entry GN&C a reusable stage demands. The work is Kalman-filter state estimation and GPS/INS sensor fusion, 6-DOF simulation and Monte Carlo dispersion analysis, and closing the loop by correlating against flight data after every mission.
