Firm Topology

A defense electronics company building next-generation electronic warfare systems for airborne platforms.

The Team

Fifteen EW engineers and six signal processing specialists. EW Division Chief Engineer is the direct report.

The challenge

Adversary radar waveforms are getting cognitive -- they adapt in real-time to the jamming environment. The current EW suite was designed for fixed-parameter threats. The next generation needs to identify novel waveforms it has never seen before and generate effective responses in milliseconds, not seconds.

Role overview

Electronic warfare systems across the full kill chain: detect, classify, and counter RF threats in contested electromagnetic environments. The signal processing chain from antenna to response generation is the technical domain. The hard constraint is time -- identification and response need to happen in fewer milliseconds than the adversary's radar can adapt.

Specializations

EW systemsELINTRF threat analysis

Technical requirements

  • MSEE with focus on RF/microwave or signal processing
  • 12+ years in electronic warfare systems engineering, with 8+ years on classified programs
  • Deep understanding of radar waveforms, signal modulation, and threat characterization
  • Experience with EW receiver architecture design (channelized, Bragg cell, or digital)
  • Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for signal processing analysis
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the system architecture for next-generation airborne electronic warfare suites
  • Design adaptive EW response algorithms that counter cognitive and agile radar threats
  • Perform RF threat analysis and develop threat models for EW system design validation
  • Define digital RF memory (DRFM) and digital signal processing requirements for EW receivers
  • Coordinate EW system integration with aircraft avionics and mission systems
  • Support EW system testing at government test ranges

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $240,000 - $280,000
  • Annual bonus 12-15%
  • Clearance premium included in base
  • 9/80 compressed schedule
  • Retirement plan with 10% company contribution
