Firm Topology

A national EV charging network operator deploying fast chargers at scale along highway corridors and in metropolitan areas.

The Team

Five electrical engineers and three civil designers. Director of Engineering is the report line.

The challenge

NEVI program deadlines: 200 new charging sites across 12 states in 18 months. Each site means a utility service request, civil permit, and electrical design package. At current engineering velocity, the math doesn't work. Standardized site designs that cut engineering hours per site by 40% are the unlock.

Role overview

Electrical infrastructure for DC fast charging stations, from the utility transformer through the charger output terminals. That means utility coordination across 30+ different utilities with 30 different interconnection processes, site electrical design, and the standardized packages that let a construction team break ground without waiting for custom engineering. The bottleneck the company is trying to break is engineering throughput, not construction.
